The material of a towel matters, and we all want something that feels luxe, absorbs well, and will hold up over time. We also recognize that we have a responsibility to care for each other and our communities. That’s why we’re proud to offer products that feel great and look beautiful, and have STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certification.

What is OEKO-TEX®?

STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is one of the world's best-known labels for textiles tested for harmful substances. It stands for customer confidence and high product safety.

If a textile product carries the STANDARD 100 label, that means:

  • Every component of the product has been tested for harmful substances and the product therefore is deemed harmless for human health.
  • All textile articles in the product are considered and tested—from the threads and stitching to the finished fabrics—before the final article is allowed to carry the STANDARD 100 label.
  • Tests are conducted by independent OEKO-TEX® partner institutes on the basis of the extensive OEKO-TEX® criteria catalog. In the testing process they consider numerous regulated and non-regulated substances, which may be harmful to human health.
  • In many cases, the testing reviews and analysis for the STANDARD 100 go beyond national and international requirements. The criteria catalog is updated at least once a year and expanded with new scientific knowledge or statutory requirements.

(PS: The Standard in their name and in ours is a coincidence, but suffice to say that we both have high standards for textiles.)

So what exactly makes a better towel?

Simply put: high quality materials and thoughtful craftsmanship. Protecting people and the environment is important to us, and incorporating greater sustainability methods doesn’t have to be an either-or choice between a beautiful product and one that carefully considers human health and our planet’s.

Greater transparency into what you’re bringing into your home, backed by a commitment to ethical, responsible practices, sets our towels apart. Explore towel collections now.
