In winter, we love cocooning with our beds piled high with multiple pillows, plush duvets, and layers of luxurious throws. But with the advent of summer and glorious warm weather, we’re ready to throw off the covers. Here are some helpful ideas to brighten your bedroom for summer.

Where to start?

Time to put away your down comforters and duvets. Conventionally, there are a host of handy under-bed storage containers or containers you can store high up in your closet. A more creative approach might be to repurpose or freshly paint an old chest and hide your heavier linens in plain sight. (More time at home means more time for those DIY projects you always wanted to tackle!) Before packing away your winter linens, wrap your comforter in a cotton sheet (or a duvet cover) so they can breathe. No plastic, please.

Nothing says summer like white bedding.

Our dreamily soft Luxe Sheet Set has an engineered moisture-wicking technology to provide a cooler sleep experience. They also pair beautifully with our Cumulus Top Cover. The soft, cloud-like texture of the top cover can be the focal point for bright and cheery décor.

Add texture.

The secret to a beautifully appointed bedroom is to layer in textures. A throw casually draped over the end of the bed will ensure you don’t get cold as well as add an additional textural statement, without too much weight. For summer, pick something in a beach-like neutral or add a pop of bold color.

Think accent colors.

Classic Blue, the color of the year, is timeless and enduring. Consider adding throw pillows or a blanket in this rich blue. An accent color painted on a repurposed piece of furniture in your space can make for a gorgeous accent piece. Our Classic Cotton Sheet Sets in Forever Blue are also a great way to layer in this on-trend color.

Embrace florals.

For summer, you might consider sheers with a delicate floral pattern that will let the long-awaited sunlight come filtering in. Conversely, if you’re a burrower and curse the sunlight before your first cup of coffee, you might consider sticking with room-darkening curtains. For a cheerful accent, add a floral sham to your bed. For the perfect final touch, you can’t go wrong with a vase of freshly cut flowers.
